Let’s first talk about why it’s important to know your skin type. Knowing your skin type helps you learn how to help your skin by choosing products specifically designed for your skin type. Using the wrong products or treating the wrong skin type may not give you the results you’re looking for.
So how can we know what skin type we have? Well, it’s easy. All we must do is follow these simple steps:
1. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser
2. Wait for an hour and do NOT put anything on your face (no creams, serums or anything)
3. After an hour examine your skin
Normal skin:
If your face is not oily/shiny nor is it dry or tight then congrats you have normal skin!
Dry skin:
If your face feels tight, stripped or you experience some flakiness then you have
dry skin.
Oily skin:
If your face is shinny or has some oiliness and your pores are extra visible.
Combination skin:
If your T-zone is shinny/oily while other parts of your face (e.g cheeks) feel dry, you have combination skin. It can also be the opposite where your T-Zone is dry while you’re cheeks are oily.
Sensitive skin:
For sensitive skin, it will depend on the products you use whether it causes redness, irritation or stinging.
